Open Auditions For Rising Stars Cabaret - Oct 7

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for the third annual Rising Stars Cabaret on Saturday, October 7 at THE BLACK BOX, 15 West Central Street, in downtown Franklin. Showcasing the vocal talents of promising young area performers, Rising Stars will be presented on Friday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the venue’s BLACK BOX Cabaret series. 

Auditions begin at 1 p.m. for ages 6-8, 1:30 for ages 9 and 10, 2:00 for ages 11 and 12, and 2:30 for teens. Students must be 6 years of age or older on the audition date to participate. 

Please prepare a 32-bar audition cut and share a brief story or experience related to the song. Bring sheet music, as an accompanist will be provided. 

Singers from a variety of age groups will be chosen. If selected, a production fee applies, which includes private coaching, group rehearsal with the band, and musical arrangements of your songs to keep.

FPAC Announces Open Auditions for Original Holiday Musicals

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for the original FPAC musical ’Tis the Season! and a new FPAC holiday panto. Auditions for both shows will take place on Saturday, October 7 at THE BLACK BOX, FPAC’s home and performance venue located at 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. 

Auditions are scheduled at 1 p.m. for ages 6-8, 1:30 for ages 9 and 10, 2:00 for ages 11 and 12, 2:30 for teens, and 3:30 for adults. Those unable to attend on the 7th are encouraged to audition on Wednesday, October 4 at 7 p.m. Students must be 6 years of age or older on the audition date to participate. Beginners and all levels are welcome. Please prepare 16 measures of a musical theater or pop song and bring sheet music, as an accompanist will be provided. A simple dance combination will be taught at the audition.

’Tis the Season! is an original large cast musical first presented by FPAC in 1995. The upbeat, jazzy holiday extravaganza features members of the Kenny Hadley Big Band and contemporary arrangements of favorite holiday classics in musical styles including R&B, jazz, rock, Motown, gospel, and Broadway. FPAC will present ’Tis the Season! on December 9 and 10 at Franklin High School auditorium. 
 

FPAC Announces Open Auditions For Original Holiday Musicals

FPAC’s third original American panto follows in the British tradition, retelling a well-known fairy tale in an exaggerated style filled with audience participation, popular songs, slapstick comedy, jokes, dances, and more. The production will be staged at THE BLACK BOX on December 22 and 23. The FPAC holiday musicals will be presented as part of the Company’s 27th season.

FPAC Announces Open Auditions for The Nutcracker

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for Tchaikovsky’s timeless ballet, The Nutcracker, on Sunday, September 24. Auditions will take place at THE BLACK BOX, FPAC’s home and performance venue located at 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. Students, ages 6 and older, from all area dance schools are welcome. 

Audition times are 9:30-10:00 a.m. for ages 6 and 7, 10:00-10:45 for ages 8 and 9, 11:00-11:45 for ages 10 and 11, 11:45-12:45 for ages 12 and 13, 1:00-2:00 for ages 14+ (off pointe), and 2:45-3:45 for ages 12+ (pointe audition; must have at least one year of pointe experience). Off-pointe callbacks are scheduled at 2:00-2:30 p.m., with pointe callbacks from 3:45-4:45. Ballet attire is required.

Presented with live professional orchestra, FPAC’s magical journey of The Nutcracker features more than 100 area dancers and special guest artists from such prestigious companies as American Ballet Theatre and Boston Ballet. The production remains a highly anticipated and treasured part of the FPAC season, a popular holiday tradition for more than 20 years. FPAC will present The Nutcracker on December 2 and 3 at the Franklin High School auditorium as part of the Company’s 27th season.

FPAC Announces Open Auditions For Spamalot - Sep 7

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for Monty Python’s Spamalot on Thursday, September 7 at THE BLACK BOX, FPAC’s home and performance venue, located at 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. Auditions will begin at 6:30 p.m. for ages 14-17 and continue at 7:00 for adults. Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theater song in the style of the show.

FPAC will present Spamalot on October 21-22 and October 27-29 at THE BLACK BOX as part of the Company’s 27th season. A hilarious retelling of the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, the musical parody was inspired by the 1975 classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and likewise diverts from more traditional versions of the legend. 

Spamalot features irreverent shenanigans including a bevy of beautiful showgirls, a flatulent Frenchman and killer rabbits. Outside there is plague with a 50 percent chance of pestilence and famine. Throughout the show, Arthur, traveling with his servant, Patsy, recruits several knights including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad to accompany him on his quest. They meet such memorable characters as the Lady of the Lake, Prince Herbert, Tim the Enchanter and Not Dead Fred. 

With book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, the 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including “Best Musical,” after receiving 14 Tony Award nominations.

Open Auditions - Arthur Miller’s "The Crucible" - Monday, March 13

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for Arthur Miller’s landmark play, The Crucible, on Monday, March 13 at THE BLACK BOX, the company’s home and performance venue located at 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. Auditions begin at 7 p.m. for females ages 13+ and males ages 16+. Those auditioning may prepare a monologue, or sides will be available. FPAC will present The Crucible on April 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. and April 30 at 2 p.m. at THE BLACK BOX. Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play, Arthur Miller’s drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society. Set in 1962, the story focuses upon a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife’s arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie, and it is there that the monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft and ultimately condemned with a host of others. While set against the backdrop of the Salem Witch Trials, Miller’s masterful drama is an allegory of the McCarthy-era witch-hunts of the 1950s. The Crucible is a timeless work with a universal message about the power of false accusations, mass hysteria, fear, and intolerance.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for the hit musical comedy, The Addams Family, on Wednesday, September 9, at THE BLACK BOX, 15 West Central Street in downtown Franklin. 

Auditions will begin at 6:30 p.m. for boys ages 10+ and girls ages 13+ and will continue at 7:00 for adults. Please prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theater song.
