View this email in your browser WINTERBLOOM Dec 9 - 8 PM $25 Add some joy to the holiday season with the wonderful music of Winterbloom.  This female supergroup performs at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse Holiday Show on Saturday, December 9th, at 8PM.  Winter is a time for gathering – and sometimes it's even more fun to gather with friends than family!  It's in this spirit that a new holiday tradition has emerged – a tradition of friendship and music.  Every few years four successful, internationally touring singer-songwriters Antje Duvekot, Anne Heaton, Meg Hutchinson and Natalia Zukerman will tour as "Winterbloom" with diverse reflections and experiences to share for the holidays. It started with one magical show in December 2008 that led these four women to record and tour together.  Since then they reunite in the dark days of winter to bring the gift of gorgeous melody to us all.  This holiday season Winterbloom returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse for one of only two northeast concerts. Join Winterbloom this holiday season for an evening of warmth, friendship, sarcasm and surprises. This is a wonderful treat for the entire family. View this email in your browser RICHARD SHINDELL with special guest Michele Kelly Nov 18th 8PM $25 Noted songwriter Richard Shindell returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin on Saturday, November 18th at 8PM.  "Are You Happy Now", "A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dress", and "The Ballad of Mary Magdalen" are just a few of his wonderful songs. An expatriate New Yorker now living in Argentina, Richard Shindell is a meticulous craftsman.  He is a writer whose songs paint pictures, tell stories, juxtapose ideas and images, inhabit characters, vividly evoking entire worlds along the way and expanding our sense of just what it is a song may be. From his first record, Sparrow's Point (1992) to his current release, Careless (September 2016), Shindell has explored the possibilities offered by this most elastic and variable of cultural confections: the song. Richard is a part of the Cry, Cry, Cry trio with Dar Williams and Lucy Kaplansky. They recently completed a reunion tour which included a concert at the Wilbur Theater in Boston. Local singer and performer Michele Kelly will open the show.  Michele has a lovely voice and writes emotive, thought provoking songs. He's been playing music and comedy venues nationally for fifteen years. Eric's songs have been sung by Ronny Cox, Holly Near and Van Dyke Parks. His songs go from the political to the profane, sometimes both and have won him the International Songwriting Competition's best comedy song of the year award. Eric's latest CD release The Aristocrat was called "a comic treasure" by Paul Zollo (Songwriters on Songwriting) and the U.K.'s Rock'n'Reel magazine says it is "beautifully produced and perfectly executed". Seeing Christine Lavin or Don White is a treat. Seeing Christine Lavin and Don White is an experience. Between the two of them, they more than 40 years of combined experience making music and laughter. Don't miss them at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse on October 28 at 8PM.

The Lavin/White co-bills have packed audiences in wherever they've played, from the Regent Theatre in Boston to The Ark in Ann Arbor Michigan. Audiences get a one-hour shot of each performer during their solo sets, and then a free-for-all when White and Lavin take the stage together and display the kind of chemistry you get from old friends and seasoned performers. You'll never see the same show twice.

"Our show doesn't sound like a folk concert, it sounds like a comedy concert, there's 400 people screaming with laughter for the whole two hours," says White.

"It's hard to describe what it is that Don does onstage, because there simply isn't anyone out there like him," says Lavin. "I'm a brave performer to share the bill with someone who knocks audiences out the way he does."

Christine Lavin is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter, author, and knitter. She released her memoir, Cold Pizza for Breakfast: A Mem-wha??, in 2010. She is also a founding member of the popular folk collective, The Four Bitchin' Babes. 

White is a celebrated singer/songwriter/storyteller who has released eight albums and three DVDs. His new CD, More Alive, is available now. His book, Memoirs Of A C Student, is available in print and for the Kindle and Nook. Lavin and White have also released a digital only live album, Live At the Ark: The Father's Day Concert, available on CDFreedom.com.
